Collin McGee is an emerging solo acoustic guitarist. Hailing from Chicago, Collin presently attends the University of Iowa and demonstrates his talents throughout local bars and restaurants in Iowa City. Collin’s music is sonically diverse, crafted from alternate tunings, rhythmic tapping, and percussive techniques. His technically difficult, fingerpicking playing style is as entertaining to watch as it to listen to. Primary influences include guitarists Andy McKee, Antoine Dufour, Justin King, and Trevor Gordon Hall. Alternative rock, hip-hop, and electronic music have fashioned Collin‘s work into something unique and accessible for both the average college student, as well as the guitar aficionado. Collin has composed and recorded music used in the play “Mud”, performed by the University of Iowa. During the summer of 2011, Collin was hand picked by Grammy winning artist Lee Ritenour to participate in the semi-finals of the worldwide Six String Theory guitar competition. Collin McGee currently continues to compose new music and perform live in the Midwest area.
