The cosmic bass dust has barely settled from Nasha’s ‘Black Orchid’ EP and the London label are already back with five more essential spells of subversive sonic sorcery.
First up is an enormous remix from C23 who re-vision ‘Technology’, a deep-seated spiritual synapse-snapper from the label’s flagship collective, the Nasha Experience. With a bulbous bassline that oozes magic like a woozy digital didgeridoo, it drives deep into the dance with an endlessly twisting and morphing polyrhythm that just won’t quit.
‘Lagare’ follows with switch-flipping gusto. Bolstered with tech-minded breakbeats and a tightly knitted weave of eastern majesty, it’s a timeless roller that will speak volumes to myriad genres – from dubstep to deep tech to good old fashioned house music, ‘Lagare’ is set to see a lot of attention over the coming months.
Next up we find Nuphlo living up to his name with a beautifully deep, liquid dubstep roller. With percussion patterns so intricate you could write a thesis on them, and a hook so infectious you’ll be whistling it well into next year, ‘Stix’ sums up everything that’s distinctive about Nasha: unabashed complexities, delivered with horse-power prowess.
Shandy steps up and follows the sweet suit Nuphlo’s tailored before him. Devilishly hypnotic and abyss-like in its charm, the emphasis here is torn between the haunting hollowness of the resonant bass-licks and trippy developments in the rhythm department. Taking the half step formula and re-energising it with crafty double kicks on the fills, this will liven up your dance without them even realising.
And so we find ourselves at the final chapter of this startling sonic escapade. And label mainstay Naz hasn’t let us down. ‘Tikrit’ is an almighty bass bomb just waiting to explode. With a nagging, heart-fluttering bassline that matches the dramatic kick-and-snare arrangement and a web of alluring sonic echoes laced delicately over the top, it’s the essential go-to tune for any dancefloor theatrics you’re hoping to cast this season.
Five massive bass-bitten moments of depth and precision production clarity: We have the technology… Now you do too.
