Yellowtieguy is not one person. It’s any person, really. Men & women, boys and girls of all ages!
The term “yellowtieguy” originally started out as a bit of an accidental discovery that something unique and individual to each of us stands out in the memories of those we have the pleasure of meeting!
The band is committed to creating music that speaks out to that special quality!
In 2009, YTG songwriter and guitarist, Daniel W. Hill, and accomplished upright bass player, Mary Celeste began performing with the incomparable Mark Wecht and Max Herbst in the band “Herbst and Wecht”. with Mark on guitar and vocals, and Max the mad percussionist, they would storm Annapolis with their blend of CSNY meets modern rock.
Herbst’s departure to focus on other career goals, would lead to the renaming to Mary and the Pirates. Eventually Wecht’s departure to spend more time with his wonderful family, would leave Mary and Daniel to move on as well.
Daniel had already established some foundation in Annapolis, and Waldorf, MD as Yellowtieguy, but mostly in an acoustic fashion. He was ready to make the jump to putting on a full blown rock show.
With original songs in hand, Daniel and Mary would join: Jason McKinney (guitarist, vocalist, & writer for “The Wreckless Abandon”), and Darren Guzzone (drummer & producer). Together, in a relatively short period of time, the group recorded 8 tracks, and began mixing.
Joining YTG after that was drummer Ralf Madrigal, whose personality and technique brought a wonderful dynamic to the groups live performances. Fans have come together for sold out shows in support.
With post production for “Joy In the Mourning” drawing to a close, you’re sure to hear more about the upcoming May 2012 release, and some of the exciting events planned!
